Dustin Pedroia will have surgery tomorrow ending his year for the Boston Red Sox

The Red Sox tried to rush starting 2B Dustin Pedroia back and he was re-injured just like Jacoby Ellsbury. Pedroia played in 75 games this season for the Red Sox and he was 87 of 302 (.288 avg, .860 OPS) with 53 runs scored, 12 homers, 41 RBIs and 9 stolen bases. In his 5 years with the Red Sox, Pedroia has now played in 556 games in which he is 667 of 2,190 (.305 avg, .830 OPS) with 377 runs scored, 54 homers, 253 RBIs and 56 stolen bases. No matter how much you want to win you can’t rush players back before they are healthy. Hopefully the Red Sox will learn that lesson after what happened to Pedroia and Ellsbury this year.

Carlos Delgado is done for the year before he even played with the Boston Red Sox

The Red Sox were so desperate for help that they recently signed 38-year old lefty swinging 1B Carlos Delgado despite him missing the whole year until he was signed due to a bad hip. Well he has a small tear near his left hip that will cause him to miss the rest of the year. Delgado played in 5 games in AAA-ball for the Red Sox and he was 3 of 13 (.231 avg, .497 OPS) with 2 RBIs. Desperate times call for desperate measures but the Red Sox still should’ve passed on Delgado.
