The Boston Red Sox have a so-so week

The Red Sox went 4-3 last week but they spanked the Yankees two out of three over the weekend to keep the Yanks in last place.  The Sox outscored their opponents 36-31 last week so the pitching was a little bit off.  The Sox are now 16-8 which is good for first place in the American League East, 4 games ahead of the Toronto Blue Jays.

Mike Lowell off to a blazin’ start for the Boston Red Sox

Mike Lowell is off to a great start for the Boston Red Sox this season.  He has played in 19 games so far this season and he’s 23 for 72 (.319 avg, .932 OPS) with 10 runs scored, 4 homers and 17 RBIs.  Lowell is usually a fast starter and that has really come in handy so far this season as David Ortiz and Manny Ramirez are off to slow starts to the season.

Coco Crisp continues to disappoint for the Boston Red Sox this season

When the Red Sox traded for Coco Crisp before last season they billed him as a poor man’s Johnny Damon….and they were way off on that prediction!  In 16 games so far this season, Crisp is 12 for 56 (.214 avg, .554 OPS) with 6 runs scored and 6 RBIs.  If Crisp doesn’t start to play better soon look for the Sox to give Wily Mo Pena a lot more playing time in center field.

The Boston Red Sox had another outstanding week

The Red Sox went 6-1 last week and they outscored their opponents 38-25.  They had a perfect weekend as they swept the Yankees right out of town!  The Sox are now in first place in the American League East with a 12-5 record, 1.5 games ahead of the surprising Baltimore Orioles.

Dustin Pedroia horrible at the plate so far for the Boston Red Sox

Blogged under Front Page, In Need of a Slumpbuster, Bloglockers by chinmusic on Thursday 19 April 2007 at 9:03 pm

Dustin Pedroia is off to a lousy start for the Boston Red Sox that could lead them outside the organization to find help.  He has played in 12 games so far this season and he’s only hitting .188 with a .521 OPS.  He’s 6 for 32 with 3 runs scored and 0 RBIs.  Despite the fact that Pedroia is a good defensive player and the fact that the Red Sox have a good offense, they can’t carry Pedroia if he’s hitting under .240.
